Vacation Itinerary: 3 Days at SunDestin (Couples Edition)

So you’ve finally carved out some time for a couples getaway and booked a stay at SunDestin. With nothing but soft powdery sand, warm emerald waters, and clear blue skies ahead, we imagine you can’t wait for the journey to begin. With so many amenities, things to see and do nearby, and delicious restaurants just minutes away, you might need a little help deciding how to spend your time here. A solid game plan with a little flexibility might be in order, so we thought we might lend a hand!

Since we know Destin, and we’re particularly fond of spending time with our significant others in this beautiful community, we thought we’d craft a SunDestin itinerary with couples in mind. With three days, you’ll have plenty of time to check out the views, do some sightseeing, and get in a little pampering, and; since there’s no single way to enjoy Destin, we’re providing a few options. Mix and match as you see fit, and set your sights on a romantic escape at SunDestin!

Day One – Check-in Late Afternoon

Since you’ve been traveling, you may want to lay low your first night in town. A long day cramped on a plane or in a car will see you ready to stretch those limbs, and what better place than the beach at SunDestin. With 100 yards of sugar white sand just steps from your condo, toss that luggage aside, change into your swimsuit, and get ready to take in coastal breezes outside. Be sure to visit The Sea Store in the lobby for beach essentials, including sunglasses, sunscreen, beach coverups, and more. No need to get back in the car for dinner when you can grab a pizza at the onsite restaurant, Fudpucker’s Pelican’s Roost. Lounge poolside and let those pent-up stresses melt away as you reconnect with your loved one. Take a stroll along the beach as the sun melts into the shoreline, then relax in the hot tub before retiring to your cozy condo.

Day Two

After a peaceful night’s sleep, you’ll feel energized and ready for some exploration. Early risers might want to catch the sunrise with morning coffee on the private balcony and grab a workout at the fitness facility. Conveniently located onsite, you’ll find everything you need to work up a good sweat, including cardio and weight machines, a hot tub, and a sauna. Of course, we wouldn’t blame you if you’d prefer to catch a few extra hours of blissful sleep. Comfortable bedrooms and cozy bedding encourage lounging, and we’re all for it!  When hunger sets in, you’ll find plenty of breakfast options just minutes from SunDestin. For a sweet indulgence, opt for the gourmet pancakes at The Pancakery. If savory is more your speed, select from crepes, omelets, or the crabcake benedict and top it off with a Bloody Mary, Mimosa, or a delicious Morning Mule!

Getting around Destin is a breeze, with opportunities for shared experiences in every direction. If you’re a couple that bonds through adventure, head to Harborwalk Village and check out the many excursions available. You’re bound to find something interesting, from snorkeling and paddleboarding to parasailing and kayaking, and some great lunch spots too. Margaritaville and Harry T’s offer diverse menus, delicious drinks, and great waterfront views. If you’d prefer a quiet afternoon casually strolling through shops followed by a lovely meal, Grand Boulevard might be a nice way to spend the afternoon.

Swing by Sexton’s Seafood Market on your way back to the condo. Pick up some smoked tuna dip, fresh seafood filets, and a key lime pie, and consider dinner done. Throw it in the fridge, then head to the beach to catch some afternoon sun. Seasonal beach service makes it worry-free, with two chairs and an umbrella available for rental. When you’re ready, fire up the grill, savor a delicious meal and watch another beautiful day come to a close on the Emerald Coast.

Day Three

Start the day with a beach stroll before heading to Crackings for breakfast. A cinnamon roll might be in order, or maybe the lobster gouda grits, then dive into a benedict, omelet, or scramble and get the day rolling. If you’re up for a little more adventure, rent bikes and spend the afternoon exploring Destin’s little nooks and crannies, or book a sailing charter and see the sights from a different angle. Schedule a couples massage and truly unwind with a deep tissue massage, facial, or body scrub. Of course, you may want to spend the entire day lounging by the pool or chilling at the beach; it’s totally your call.

For lunch, try Lulu’s, a fun hangout serving great food with beautiful views of Choctawhatchee Bay. Pick up an outfit at the Destin Commons, then back to the condo for some more beach time. Since it’s your last night in town, a romantic dinner might be in order, and we can’t think of a better place to indulge than Beach Walk Cafe, just five minutes away. Return to the condo for some cocktails poolside, another gorgeous sunset, and a little more relaxation time in the hot tub before turning in for the night.

Check Out – Morning

We suggest doing most of your packing the night before so you can squeeze in one more beach walk come morning. You might also want to hit The Sea Store again for a keepsake to commemorate your SunDestin getaway and maybe grab a few gifts for friends and family before heading out. Your last stop in Destin should definitely be the Donut Hole. Renowned for its bakery, display cases at the entrance showcase delicious pies, cakes, and a variety of freshly made donuts that are a must-try. If you’re traveling by car, grab a dozen to go – trust us on this one. Don’t be deterred if you see a line out front, as that’s typically guests waiting for a table. You’ll rarely find a wait for doughnuts, so feel free to walk right in and make your selections!

A few things you can count on at this beloved establishment frequented by locals and visitors alike. Breakfasts don’t get much heartier, and your coffee cup will never be empty. Choose from eggs benedict, corned beef hash, or a breakfast burger, or maybe try french toast, Belgian waffles, or pancakes topped with fresh fruit. Either way, it’s a win and the perfect way to end your couple’s trip to SunDestin!
