Bike the Timpoochee Trail

Scenic 30A is known for being incredibly pedestrian-friendly, boasting little town centers in almost every beach town and easy biking and walking trails to get from one place to the next. So, while visiting Prominence in Watersound, put the car keys away and pick up a bicycle as your primary mode of transportation along the Timpoochee Trail. 

Spanning an impressive 18 miles, the Timpoochee Trail is wide and relatively flat, making it the perfect path for leisurely bike riders or families biking with little ones. To access the trail from Prominence, you’ll hop on at mile marker 14, which rests at the entrance of Watersound. Then head east toward Alys Beach and Rosemary Beach, or west to hit up beach towns like Seagrove Beach and Seaside. One thing is for sure: no matter what direction you pick, you can’t go wrong!

Tip: Don’t forget sunscreen, some water, and, most importantly, your camera phone to capture all the scenic beauty you’ll see along the way!

Morning bike rides around Prominence are a great way to burn calories while taking in epic seascapes, and they’re even better when followed by an afternoon of lounging by the pool. Stop in at Macho Taco for mouthwatering elote on the cob, or swing by for an evening sweet at Super Freeze and try one of their signature shakes. 

The lawn at The Big Chill is a unique space that features different events throughout the month. Recurring themes like family movie night, yoga, and live music are just some of the activities you’ll catch as you pass by. Relax on the cushioned couches, grab a bite, and browse the boutiques and shops. A popular location for concerts, outdoor movies, and seasonal affairs, the whole family will enjoy the vibrant atmosphere and lively entertainment.

While there’s plenty in the immediate vicinity, venturing out along Scenic Highway 30A is a crowd-pleasing pastime. We mentioned there are 16 unique beach towns, right? Make a goal to explore a new beach town with each visit. It’s incredible the things you’ll find tucked away within them. Start with the closest beach towns to Prominence, like architecturally unique and perfectly manicured Alys Beach and Rosemary Beach just past Seacrest Beach.

Alys Beach

Alys Beach is known for theming their entire community in white, with thoughtful placements of natural materials throughout. Built for the curious mind, the deeper you go into Alys Beach, the more to discover. If you’re a runner, we recommend packing your sneakers and going for a jog through this beach town because nestled throughout are exciting sculptures and art exhibits that you’d never notice if just driving through. 

Rosemary Beach

Rosemary Beach is also a short bike ride away and features stunning architectural design among the homes, with a bustling restaurant and shopping scene in the town center. For a picturesque moment, visit the green space at the edge of the beachline during sunset.
