Why Guests Return to Northwest Florida’s Beaches Every Year
August 28, 2025
If you have a friend who visited the beautiful beaches of Northwest Florida, they probably follow up the conversation with a picture they took of the beach, and then say something along the lines of “seriously, the beaches really look like that, no filter needed!”
It’s true, our beaches are some of the best out there, but sugar-soft sand and emerald green waters aren’t the only reason our guests come back year after year. So we combed through our guest reviews and our local staff’s knowledge to bring you the top reasons why guests just can’t get enough of Northwest Florida.
Here’s one of our favorite guest stories.
Our first trip to Northwest Florida’s beaches was meant to be a one-time escape. It didn’t take long for it to become an annual vacation tradition. Now, we’ve come so often that it really does feel like coming home, and there’s an ease that comes with returning—knowing where to stay, where to grab coffee, and our favorite places to hit the beach.
At the same time, we always look forward to discovering something new, like a hidden stretch of shoreline, a fun event, or a new restaurant we missed the last time we were in town.
It’s all these little things, and countless others, that keep us coming back year after year.
Beautiful Beaches Never Get Old
No matter how many times we visit, the beauty of the beaches never fails to amaze us. We feel like taking a tropical vacation— the color of the water, the soft white sand, and the way the sun lights up the horizon at the end of the day. And each stretch of shoreline has its own personality.
When our boys were little, we’d load beach toys in a wagon, pack a cooler, and stay for hours.
We’ve found rare coastal dune lakes along 30A, and have spent hours paddleboarding and kayaking in the calm, shallow waters. We’ve walked for miles on uncrowded beaches, hearing nothing but the waves in Navarre. Now that our children are older, we really enjoy renting jet skis, cruising to Crab Island, and then hitting a beachfront restaurant for dinner and cocktails.
Planning is Easier Each Visit
Once we found our favorite vacation rental, the nearest grocery store, and the closest beach access point, future trips became a breeze. We started to settle into a routine: morning walks along the water, beach chairs set up by mid-morning, and dinner reservations made without even having to think twice.
We also remember which stretch of beach has the clearest water on calm days for snorkeling, where to park if the public beach access lot fills up, and the best time to hit the seafood market before the rush. We know where everything is and don’t feel the pressure to cram everything in. There’s more room for spontaneity, like a last-minute dolphin cruise or just staying out on the beach a little longer because the sunset is too good to miss.
You’re Welcomed Like a Local
There’s something special about walking into a beachside shop or restaurant and being greeted with a smile of recognition. After a few visits, we started seeing familiar faces at the seafood market and the paddleboard rental shop. Even the guys working on the beach remembered us. This last visit, the girl at the coffee shop remembered my order!
That kind of Southern hospitality makes each trip feel like more than just a vacation. It’s warm, personal, and easygoing, just like our time here in Northwest Florida.
There’s Always a New Favorite Waiting
Even though we’ve been coming for years, we still manage to find something new every time. One trip, we discovered our new favorite pizza place (Fat Clemenza’s). Another time, we found the Donut Hole, and now make a point to stop there each visit, whether to grab breakfast or pick up a home-made key lime pie to take back to our vacation rental.
One spring, we stumbled upon a local art festival, and during the fall, we actually planned our trip around the Destin Seafood Festival and had an amazing time!
A Vacation Tradition Worth Repeating
What started as a single beach trip has become something much more—a tradition we look forward to year after year. Turns out we’re not alone:
