The “30A lifestyle” flows through a collection of small beach communities, each with its own character, and all equally inviting. Towns like Seaside and Rosemary Beach feature town centers and walkable streets lined with local boutiques, fantastic restaurants, and thoughtfully designed gathering spaces that feel both inviting and distinctive.
Where is 30A?
Scenic Highway 30A, or simply “30A”, is a two-lane road located in the panhandle of Northwest Florida, nestled between Panama City and Destin. The corridor is known for its pristine beaches and charming communities, where natural features like coastal dune lakes and nearby state parks sit alongside beautiful homes and low-density condominiums with modern amenities.
Access is easy by car via the I-10 corridor and connecting highways. For those flying in, Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport in Panama City is about 30 minutes away, while the Destin - Fort Walton Beach Airport is roughly an hour away.
Things to do on 30A
Not sure how to spend your time on 30A? The options are endless! Spend an afternoon on one of the two dozen golf courses in the 30A area, take a beach cruiser along the coast, or head out on the water on a stand-up paddleboard or kayak. Local art galleries are also well worth the visit, with creative spaces sprinkled throughout South Walton’s beach communities.
Water Activities on 30A
With more than 50 beach and bay access locations in South Walton, it’s easy to find your way to sugar-white sand and emerald green water. Swim in the Gulf, take a dip in a private pool or community pool, or explore one of the 15 named coastal dune lakes.

There’s something for every member of the family year-round here, with easygoing days built around the outdoors. Pack light, bring sunscreen, and settle into long beach days and plenty of time in the sunshine!
Farmers Markets
Farmers’ markets are a great way to experience local flavor along 30A, and South Walton has several filled with vendor booths and fresh fare. Options include the 30A Farmers Market and the Seaside Farmers Market for delicious farm-to-table goods. Rosemary Beach’s Farmers Market is wildly popular, and Grand Boulevard’s Farmers Market continues to grow!
Timpoochee Trail
Stretching about 19 miles along 30A, the Timpoochee Trail runs from Dune Allen to Rosemary Beach with easy access to beaches along the way. The paved trail runs along the Gulf of Mexico, making it ideal for walking, jogging, or biking. Bring along some snacks and make an afternoon out of hopping between scenic stops along the route!
Point Washington State Park
Covering more than 15,000 acres, Point Washington State Park features 27 miles of trails designed for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. Multiple loop options, including 3-, 5.5-, and 10-mile routes, make it easy to choose a route that fits your plans. Trailheads with parking are located nearby on County Road 395.

Blue Mountain Beach
- The Perfect Pig - a local hotspot with blackened grouper tacos, crab cake sandwiches, and shrimp and grits, just a tiny sampling of the menu offerings
- Growler Garage - known for serving up a rotating lineup of craft beers on tap, along with wine and beach-ready pours.
- Johnny McTighe’s - a relaxed neighborhood pub serving hearty comfort food and cold drinks that works well for both casual lunches and low-key nights out.
- Blue Mountain Bakery - a cozy cafe-style bakery, known for fresh pastries, tasty breakfast bites, and made-from-scratch sweets and breads.
Grayton Beach
- The Red Bar - a funky restaurant/bar with eclectic decor, live music, and a diverse menu loaded with fresh seafood and pasta dishes.
- Chiringo - enjoy sweet fried plantains, Caribbean-style chicken wings, and fresh juice libations in an open-air environment with great views.
- Hurricane Oyster Bar - a great place for raw, grilled, steamed, or baked oysters any way you like them, along with other popular seafood options.
- Grayton Beer BrewPub - a local craft brewery offering easy-drinking coastal ales, rotating seasonal releases, and a taproom experience with plenty of variety on draft.
- Chanticleer - a casual cafe serving Gulf Coast and Cajun-inspired dishes, including pulled pork plate, jambalaya, and shrimp and grits.
Watercolor and Seaside
- The Wine Bar - an inviting wine lounge offering an extensive collection of wines by the glass or bottle, along with cheese plates, sandwiches, and fire-roasted pizzas.
- The Great Southern Cafe’ - a beloved Southern-style restaurant known for locally sourced, Southern cuisine, spun a whole new way.
Seagrove Beach
- Pizza by the Sea - build your own or select from various specialty pies, including the Quadruple Bypass. Sandwiches, salads, and pasta are also available.
- Angelina’s - a trusted go-to for pizza and pasta, prepared in so many flavorful ways.
- Old Florida Fish House - a popular waterfront restaurant overlooking Eastern Lake featuring fresh seafood of every type. Sunday brunch is particularly popular.
Watersound
- The Big Chill - an expansive, open-air gathering spot surrounded by restaurants featuring movie nights and live music.
Seacrest Beach, Inlet Beach, and Rosemary Beach
- La Crema - a popular lunch spot featuring a selection of wines, beers, and ports complemented by beautifully prepared tapas and chocolate.
- Cowgirl Kitchen - open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and offering delicious dips, tacos, and pizzas.
- Restaurant Paradis - spend the evening enjoying elegant, upscale dining with locally sourced and thoughtfully prepared selections, including prime steaks and fresh Gulf seafood.
- Seacrest Sundries - a neighborhood market and one-stop shop for cold beer, breakfast biscuits, and tasty sandwiches. Grab and go, then hit the beach!
- Big Bad Breakfast - aptly named, here you’ll find hearty scrambles, skillets, omelets with sandwiches, and delicious wraps.
- Shades Bar and Grill - offering up burgers and po’boys for lunch and flatbreads, wings, and specialty plates for dinner, all complemented by a nice selection of draft beers
- Amici Italian Kitchen - the whole crew will enjoy the homemade pasta, Neapolitan pizza, and gelato, all served in a family-friendly setting.
- Goatfeathers - serving up all things seafood, including shrimp, crab, oysters, and more. Swing by their on-site market and grab fresh Gulf catches and house-made dips.
- Chef Tim Creehan’s Cuveé 30A - Savor award winning dishes such as Vince Gill’s Pecan Crusted Grouper in a stunning venue conveniently situated at the junction of 30A and Highway 98.

- The 30A Art Walk is an opportunity to explore the work of local artists during extended business hours. Travel along 30A, visit participating galleries, and chat with the artists behind each collection.
- The 30A Songwriters Festival, an annual four-day event bringing over 120 singers and songwriters to the area, performing at over two dozen venues scattered throughout 30A.
- The Seabreeze Jazz Festival in nearby Panama City Beach attracts over 20,000 fans for a weekend of smooth jazz.
- The Digital Graffiti Festival brings artists, musicians, designers, and filmmakers together for a one-of-a-kind experience, displaying digital and moving works of art in the white-walled community of Alys Beach for spectators to enjoy.

30A Weather
The weather along 30A is pleasant and mild year-round, cooling off late fall through early spring. Daytime temperatures range from 60 to 80 degrees, while nighttime temperatures rarely dip below 40 degrees, even during the coldest months. Rain showers are typically short-lived and intermittent, rapidly clearing away for sunny skies and outdoor play.
Although the beaches are what draw many to the area, it’s the 30A community that keeps them coming back. If this is your first trip, we’re confident it won’t be your last!
